Usage Guide

Movie Renamer Ultimate is designed for simplicity. You can process your entire library in just a few clicks.

Renaming Files

1. Open the App: Launch Movie Renamer Ultimate.
2. Add Files: Drag and drop movie files or folders into the app window, or use the Browse Folder button.
3. Automatic Matching: The app will automatically parse filenames and search TMDB for the correct matches.
4. Review Preview: Review the proposed renames in the list.
5. Apply: Click Apply to rename all files and folders.

Recursive Folder Scanning

When you select a folder, the app scans it and all of its subfolders automatically. You can point the app at the root of your movie library, and it will find every video file, no matter how deeply nested.

Supported Filename Patterns

The app handles a wide variety of filename formats:

# Quality tags (stripped automatically)
Movie.Name.2020.1080p.BluRay.x264.mkv

# Roman numerals (handled correctly)
Rocky.IV.1985.720p.mkv   →  Rocky IV (1985)

# Encoder/group tags (stripped)
Movie.Name.2019-Encoder.mp4

Output Format

By default, files are renamed to a clean, media-server-friendly format:
